Project Scope
APS Pipes, a leading supplier of industrial and water pipeline systems in Eastern Europe, required the creation of a comprehensive digital solution. The goal was to develop a custom ERP platform that serves as a central hub for the company’s departments—sales, logistics, and finance—while providing customers with an intuitive and powerful interface for product search, ordering, and communication.
This digital ecosystem would not only streamline internal workflows but also empower clients to generate quotes, request deliveries, and monitor order statuses in real time. Integration with accounting and financial systems was essential to provide end-to-end visibility and efficiency across all processes. The platform would become the digital backbone of the company, facilitating long-term growth and client satisfaction.
Challenges
One of the major challenges was handling the vast scale of APS Pipes’ product catalog—hundreds of thousands of products, including GRP pipes and fittings, ductile iron, vitrified clay, PP, and more. Each product is accompanied by detailed technical data sheets and multiple technical certifications specific to the countries where the products are sold.
Furthermore, many clients—primarily construction companies—were accustomed to traditional and often outdated quoting systems. Developing a digital quoting system that was both powerful and user-friendly required an in-depth understanding of the industry’s expectations and work habits. The challenge was not only technical but behavioral: to design a system that professionals would readily adopt and trust.
Solutions
Our team developed a robust digital platform powered by an Oracle database and a fully custom PHP-based web application. The user experience was a top priority, especially for mobile devices, as many construction engineers and specialists access information directly from job sites. The solution provides a smooth, mobile-optimized interface where users can quickly search, filter, and compare technical products with ease.
The platform offers a tailored e-commerce-like experience while maintaining the complexity and precision required by the technical nature of APS Pipes’ products. A RESTful API system was also developed to allow seamless integration with a third-party mobile application. This ensures all users—internal and external—can collaborate efficiently and access accurate, real-time data at any point in the procurement process.
