Project Scope
The Romanian Water Association partnered with IRDASYS to completely redesign and unify its online presence into a modern, integrated digital platform. The previous system was based on outdated Joomla installations spread across multiple domains, which limited efficiency and user experience. The new platform was envisioned as a central hub to bring together thousands of water industry professionals from Romania and abroad.
Key goals included: modernizing the look and feel of the site, integrating SEO and performance improvements, and developing secure member login and profile sections. Additionally, the platform needed to support advanced features such as private account areas for members, a dynamic discussion board, and the automatic generation of digital membership certificates based on account status and activity. The final result was a high-impact, scalable web solution built for long-term growth and engagement.
Challenges
Migrating and modernizing the Romanian Water Association’s digital content was a major challenge. The existing platform consisted of three separate Joomla websites, each with thousands of pages, articles, and images. Consolidating this content while preserving structure, URLs, and media files required a meticulous and customized migration process.
A second layer of complexity came from the member data. The association manages detailed information for thousands of individual members, each with specific access levels and rights. IRDASYS was tasked with designing a secure and flexible system to map, validate, and migrate legacy user data into a centralized membership module. To achieve this, a custom ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) pipeline had to be developed, ensuring that all membership records, including historical data, were accurately processed and integrated with the new access management rules.
Solutions
The new website was developed using the Laravel framework, chosen for its performance, scalability, and security. IRDASYS created a powerful and intuitive admin system, supporting multiple roles and access levels, ensuring efficient management for various teams across the association.
The final platform offers high-speed performance optimized for PageSpeed scores and responsive design. Beyond the core site, IRDASYS implemented functionality for managing dedicated sub-sites and modules, such as electronic voting for competitions, event microsites, and document archives. The discussion area promotes collaboration among members, while automated certificate generation and member profile management simplify administrative processes.
This digital transformation positions the Romanian Water Association as a leader in adopting innovative technology within the professional and scientific community.
